the circus came to town. not just any circus, but. ahem, (imagine a really deep animated male radio voice here:)"el circo mas grande del paiz." sans a zoo in residence, we sure appreciated seeing all the animals! (which we got to see before and after the circus, they kept them outside like a big petting zoo.) from madelyn's infanthood we made almost weekly treks to the zoo. my mom is a big time zoo lover. she buys us year passes to the zoo every year. we miss going to the zoo so often. we have traded up in some ways, owning lots of our own farm animals. madelyn had a great time seeing all the circus animals: tigers, elephants, monkeys, llamas, ponies, buffalo, camels and a hippopotamus. christian was trying to convince everyone that the circus had bought siegfried & roy's old tiger, cheap. he wanted to sit up high and away. the circus was so much fun! my favorite part was the elephants dancing, like club dancing. to music. it was hilarious. there were so many laugh out loud moments. one of my favorite parts of being a parent is watching the joy of my children. for the most part, cj and i were watching her watch the show. i'm telling you, there was lots of joy watching at the circus. olivia slept peacefully through the whole thing in her aunt shelley's arms. cj bought me a big pink cotton candy (ew, who likes those? just me.) and mady got every trinket that walked past us. to top it all off, the whole family rode an elephant for a picture!

I thought that the hippo was the most amazing thing! And that the kids got to ride it! I did not expect that that would be happening when I woke up that morning!
