You are not the only one! I have my shallowness too! I love the bike... it's one of my life-long dreams to pedal it down Main Street in Martha's Vineyard!
I must say, you and my wife would really get along. You can see here that we checked the pink Christmas tree off our list last year (albeit much smaller). As for your Nikon flash and lens, I'm getting Kami the same SB800 and (what appears to be) the same lens for Christmas this year.
