organizing the books by color helps me be more spontaneous in my book choices at storytime. how about a green, orange and red today? and it looks cutest.
love books, love my mom. my mom loves to buy books for the girls. by the dozens. she often sends a big surprise box of books. love that. i also add to the collection, because, now ya know- i am genetically inclined to buy books. but unlike my mother, who can afford her rock 'n roll lifestyle, i buy only a few at a time. carefully chosen. because i like to buy things other than books. (like anything in patent leather. like another pair of sunglasses. like juicy. sorry. what were we talking about again. o books.) we love books. we love storytime.
i thought it would be fun to start sharing our favorite books. maybe it will help another mommy who doesn't want to read goodnight moon for the fifty-thousandth time. sometimes it's overwhelming to choose new books to buy. consider this the beginning of our favorites.
one of the books we read today is mouse paint by ellen stoll walsh. love it. it's simple but clever, and it is such a good teaching tool for colors and color mixing. we have the "lap sized board book" and it's awesome- big for storytelling to both girls, plus it can withstand olivia eating the corners while we read.mouse paint is about three little white mice who teach about mixing colors in a fun way (and outsmart a cat.) mady (almost 4) still likes this book. it is a good choice for kids learning basic colors and kids who know their colors but need to learn how to combine colors. it's a fun book to use as a start point for an art project~ mixing paint colors! i think this is a grow-into-it book: i would buy it for a baby and read until they grow into it.

I love the tip. I would have NEVER thought of color coordinating my books. Great!

hey babe! if i remember correctly, you organize your closet by color too! :) we have mouse paint and it's a favorite in our home as well! very cute! oh, and we have that babystyle lamb chair too!
Our favorite learn about color book is teeny tiny mouse, mice must know a lot about colors!
If you're ever up here in New England you'll have to pop into the Eric Carle museum. The colors are amazing! It is so neat to see the process he uses to create his masterpieces!
